About Harper Reed

I am an engineer who builds paradigm-shifting technology and leads others to do the same. I love using the vastness of the Internet to bring people together, whether as CTO of Obama for America, CTO at Threadless.com, or as CEO of my own company Modest, Inc (acquired by PayPal). I am currently thinking a lot about the future and how we can make sure we don’t all die.

You can often find me playing with new technology, hacking on my own projects, or enjoying life in Chicago with my amazing partner, Hiromi and our bizarre poodle, Lulu.

I recently decided that I wanted to take more photos. I purchased a couple cameras and promised to carry one with me every day. After a year or so, it has become habit ( a fun and nice one at that) and as a result, I am taking a lot more photos. This isn’t a surprising outcome.

Turns out that I enjoy taking photos. Visit harper.photos

I don’t write very often. The last post was on Sep 16, 2015. I spend a lot of my time tweeting or, if I do write, posting to medium.

I blogged regularly at nata2.org for a bunch of years (1415 post between 2000-2015). It was a lot of fun and was a great outlet. Around the launch of Twitter, I stopped doing it regularly.

Quantified Self

I have been tracking various bits of data about my self for over a dozen years. Some of it is interesting, most of it isn’t.
